Opportunity and Engagement

For purposes of this role, “opportunity” means that faculty, trainees, and staff can navigate obstacles to their success and that they have the resources, mentorship, and professional development needed to reach their goals and those of the department. Opportunity also includes expanding pathways for talented individuals to join the department and meaningfully contribute to its mission once here.

“Engagement” refers to building and supporting a community that is collaborative and connected through strong relationships, recognition of achievements, open channels of communication, and support when concerns arise. It includes strengthening connections between department members and with the broader school and university.
