Manon Lefevre (she/they) is a medical anthropologist and science and technology studies scholar. Her research focuses on the cultural politics that surround human embryos and reproductive politics. Manon's dissertation follows embryologists who grow and steward IVF embryos amidst the overturning of Roe v Wade, revealing how understandings of embryo ‘personhood’ enter the IVF laboratory. At Penn, she will embark on a new project examining the cultural and ethical stakes surrounding polygenic embryo screening for psychiatric conditions, a nascent technology with profound implications for reproductive autonomy and disability rights. She holds a PhD in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from Yale University.
