However, limited research has been done exploring how neighborhood characteristics affect perinatal health for both the pregnant individual and the infant. This talk will cover geospatial methods for neighborhood analysis in health research and present findings using New York City Vital Statistics birth records data to evaluate the associations between neighborhood characteristics (food environment, walkability and poverty rate) and weight-related pregnancy and birth outcomes.
