2025 ASBH Cornerstone Award

The Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy is thrilled to announce that Penn Bioethics is the recipient of the 2025 ASBH Cornerstone Award. This award is the Society's highest honor for an institution and recognizes institutional contributions that have deeply enriched and helped shape the direction of the field of bioethics.

In 1994, the Penn Center for Bioethics drew together scholars with expertise in bioethics and related fields from across the University of Pennsylvania. The Center flourished and evolved, ultimately becoming the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy in 2011. Today, the Department functions as the hub for bioethics at Penn, and Penn Bioethics is an internationally recognized leader in bioethical research, education and training, and service. 

The Cornerstone Award will be presented at the ASBH virtual Members' Meeting on Wednesday, October 29.
