Abe Baker-Butler is a 2025 graduate of Yale College and an incoming Research Assistant working for Dr. Emanuel in the Division of Medical Ethics. He founded and led the organizations Students Against Nicotine and FroshVote. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as Recruitment Director for Telehealth Access for Seniors, mobilizing 400 student volunteers to deliver over 3,000 devices to older adults in 26 states. At Yale, Abe was a fellow with the Peace & Dialogue Leadership Initiative and he has published research on firearm injury prevention. Abe has worked for former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, the Aspen Institute Germany, and the Interamerican Institute of Human Rights in Costa Rica. He hopes to pursue a Master's of Public Administration (MPA) degree while here at Penn. In his free time, Abe plays the saxophone, hikes, and spends time with friends. He is partial to sushi, avocados, and Hall & Oates, and he is always down for an adventure.
