But that does not mean that issues that are addressed also concern the interests and needs of the global population. Nor does it mean that authorship is equally represented. Important questions for the field of bioethics are who the authors of these publications are, and what topics they cover. We address these questions through a bibliometric analysis of papers published in 21 bioethics journals in the years 2000-2025, comprising more than 20,000 authors.  We describe the relative shares of authors by authorship position and country/region, and for which global region the papers are most relevant.   We discuss how bibliometric analyses of this type matter scientifically, strategically, and practically.  This is the an advanced works-in-progress study that forms the first of 3 more or less concurrent analyses: The second replicates the approach for bioethics papers published in medical journals, and the third compares trends across both types of journals.    Lunchtime lecture; please feel free to bring your lunch.
