Health differences across population groups invite deeper inquiry yet group comparisons are often complicated by unstated assumptions regarding identification, generalizability, and stability. In medical research, this includes interface with biologic implications to avoid inappropriate substitution of sociopolitical and genomic population descriptors. This talk will explore inquiries from a number of vantages including as a researcher, clinician, and person. Barbara Chaiyachati, MD, PhD is a physician-scientist interested in addressing and abating the short and long-term effects of traumatic-stressful events or adversities, particularly child maltreatment. Dr. Chaiyachati conducts research across the translational spectrum from genetics and epigenetics to population level assessments. Streaming available via Zoom.
