NASEM Report on Behavioral, Social Science Research Questions Raised by the Use of Biomarkers for Pre-Clinical Alzheimer's

In June 2021, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine gathered experts to discuss behavioral and social science research questions raised by the use of biomarkers and other measures for pre-clinical AD/ADRD diagnosis. This included: the personal, social, ethical, legal, economic, health equity, and health care implications for patients and families, the impact of disclosure of preclinical diagnosis on identity and self-concept, study partners and interpersonal relationships, interactions with the health care system, participation in the workforce, and other outcomes. Read the workshop report here, which our department's Emanuel & Robert Hart Assistant Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy Emily Largent, JD, PhD, RN, contributed to.
