Dr. Rinad Beidas Selected to Participate in Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program
CHIBE Associate Director Rinad Beidas, PhD, has been selected as a member of the 28th cohort of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) ® program.
This year-long fellowship for women faculty in the fields of medicine, dentistry, public health, and pharmacy helps build leadership skills and offers networking and mentoring opportunities.
“It is an incredible honor to be selected as part of the 28th cohort of the ELAM program,” Dr. Beidas said. “I recently collaborated on a paper published in Science Advances on how implementation science can be applied to address gender equity in the academy. In our review of the various evidence-based practices to spotlight in this paper, ELAM emerged as the premier evidence-based program for transformational leadership training for women in academic medicine. I am so excited to gain mission critical evidence-based leadership skills and to join this incredible network of women leaders in academic medicine.”
The ELAM community is made up of more than 1,200 women across the United States and around the world. Alumnae hold executive leadership positions at 269 academic health organizations.
“I feel so incredibly lucky and humbled,” Dr. Beidas said. “I am filled with gratitude to my colleagues at Penn including Medical Ethics & Health Policy Department Chair Dr. Steven Joffe and Psychiatry Chair Dr. Maria Oquendo for nominating me, the ELUM nominating committee, Penn ELUMs who provided critical input into my application including Drs. Carmen Guerra and Raina Merchant, Vice Dean Higginbothom and her office for their support, and Dean Jameson and Executive Vice Dean Epstein for sponsoring me for this opportunity.”
