MEHP is thrilled to announce the appointment of Holly Fernandez Lynch, JD, MBE, Assistant Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy and Assistant Professor of Law, as our department’s Vice-Chair for Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADEI) effective April 1, 2023.
Prof. Fernandez Lynch succeeds Harsha Thirumurthy, PhD, who served admirably in this role for more than two years. She has a longstanding and deep commitment to ADEI and will bring tremendous vision and energy to the work. Among other notable achievements, she created www.DiverseBioethics.org, a constantly updated list of diverse and underrepresented scholars, from the most junior to the most senior, working in bioethics; conceived of and chairs the selection committee for the American Society of Law, Medicine, and Ethics graduate student writing competition in health law and anti-racism; and co-hosted a conference on health law and antiracism at Penn last spring. She has also been actively involved with the department’s ADEI committee since its beginning. In her new role, she will work closely with Tangee Streeter, our staff ADEI lead, to spearhead the department’s ADEI efforts.
