Daniel Shenfeld, PhD, is the founder and principal of Manganese Health Data Solutions, a consultancy specializing in data science and machine learning for healthcare organizations, with a focus on value-based care. Manganese has worked with national VBC providers, academic medical centers, publicly traded biopharma companies, and numerous healthtech startups. Previously, Dr. Shenfeld held executive positions at eviCore Healthcare (now part of Cigna) and at healthtech and biopharma startups funded by leading venture capital firms. Dr. Shenfeld is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, where his research focuses on applying machine learning to health policy, value-based payment models, and healthcare reform.

Dr. Shenfeld graduated magna cum laude with a B.Sc. in mathematics and biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he also earned M.Sc. degrees in mathematics (summa cum laude) and biochemistry (magna cum laude). He obtained his Ph.D. in mathematics from Princeton University. Dr. Shenfeld’s academic contributions span diverse fields including mathematics, computational biology, machine learning in healthcare, and health policy. His work has been published in leading journals such as Cell, Nature Biotechnology, Physical Review, and Health Affairs.
