In the context of regulation, the revolving door is defined as the movement of employees between regulatory agencies and the industries they regulate and is thought to render regulatory decisions more vulnerable to industry interests. I review federal revolving door regulations and recent empirical studies on the effects of the revolving door and present a preliminary analysis of the problem of the revolving door in health policy, the FDA, and research standards for drug approval.
