Abstract: The health risk in immigration detention are clear, but there is little to no data on health complications in immigration detention. We use state inpatient data from Texas and Louisiana to gain insights about the morbidity burden among immigrant detainees, how ICE might triage care for detainees, and what both might inform us about the course of the COVID pandemic in detention centers.
