Laura C. Hart founded and leads the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy’s online educational initiatives, from strategy through implementation to evaluation and iteration. Programs include the University of Pennsylvania’s first fully online degree—the Master of Health Care Innovation, whose inaugural class graduated in 2019—and noncredit Professional Development courses, as well as Continuing Education in ethics. As a thought leader, she contributes to conversations and informs decisions with faculty, staff, and administrators across Penn, as well as with external partners. Laura arrived at Penn in 2015 from the Curtis Institute of Music, where she guided the small conservatory to engage a global audience of more than 70,000 active lifelong learners through MOOCs. Herself a lifelong and online learner, she earned a certificate in e-Learning Design and Development from the University of Washington’s College of Professional and Continuing Education, more than a decade after completing her MFA in theatre.
