Alice Abernathy, MD, MSHP is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Perelman School of Medicine and a Senior Fellow of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, where she founded the Maternal Reproductive Health working group.
Dr. Abernathy is an Obstetrician Gynecologist who studies the profound, inequitable, and lifelong spillover effects of constrained abortion access. She seeks not only to understand these relationships, but also to design interventions that can be deployed early in pregnancy to mitigate the harmful impacts of these policy decisions. She earned an MD from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Most recently, she completed the National Clinician Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
