The effect of genetic information on neonatologists’ decision-making is, however, poorly understood. On the basis of responses to our split sample experimental survey, genetic findings had a significant impact on critical decisions for ill neonates. Neonatologists applied genetic findings in answering the questionnaire in ways that were clinically unwarranted and ethically problematic.
