The Penn Master of Bioethics program offers students the opportunity to become part of a vibrant intellectual community within the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine. Through an extensive calendar of lectures, discussions, and scholarly events, students engage with leading voices in bioethics and related fields while participating in the ongoing exchange of ideas that defines the department’s academic environment.

The program’s own speaker series brings distinguished bioethics scholars to campus each month to share their research and engage with students in conversation. These visits provide students with the opportunity not only to learn from influential scholars in the field, but also to connect with them personally through informal gatherings, including student dinners with visiting speakers. In addition, students have access to the department’s broader Bioethics Speaker Series, featuring timely and wide-ranging discussions on critical issues in bioethics, as well as a dedicated Research Ethics Speaker Series focused on emerging questions in the ethics of biomedical research.

Together, these opportunities create an intellectually rich environment in which students encounter diverse perspectives, engage with cutting-edge scholarship, and build connections with the scholars shaping the future of bioethics.
