Baren has been a member of the ABEM Board of Directors since July 2012, and was elected to the Executive Committee in 2016. She has served ABEM in a number of capacities, including as an examiner for the Oral Certification Examination, as Chair of the interorganizational Clinical Ultrasonography Task Force, and Chair of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Subboard. Baren also has served as Chair of the Finance, Nominations, and Test Administration committees and is a member of the Executive and Test Development committees. She is currently serving a five-year term as an officer and Executive Committee member of ABEM
