Despite the increasing availability and popularity of these tests, there has been little research on individuals who have actually taken them and received a positive or uncertain result. To address this gap, I propose to conduct semi-structured qualitative interviews in order to better understand the experiences of patients who have undergone DTC genetic testing for cancer risk and have come to Penn Medicine to follow up about their results.
