Moral Problems in the Use of Human-Nonhuman Chimeras to Obtain Human Organs

Tom Beauchamp, PhD, is one of the world’s leading bioethicists and among the creators of the field. He is the author of foundational works in bioethics, including the Principles of Biomedical Ethics with James Childress and A History and Theory of Informed Consent with Ruth R. Faden. Dr. Beauchamp was a co-author of The Belmont Report (1978), which he wrote while on the staff of the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research. He has written more than 150 scholarly articles on topics in bioethics and philosophy, including the ethics of human-subjects research, methods of bioethics, Hume and the history of modern philosophy, business ethics, and animal ethics. He is Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University, where he was also a Senior Research Scholar in the Kennedy Institute of Ethics.
